What GLARS is for, what it is not, and what this site does with your data.
Last updated October 2026
Not legal advice
GLARS is a methodology for structuring and comparing jurisdictional risk. Scores, risk levels, examples and recommended controls on this site are illustrative. They are not legal advice and do not replace advice from a qualified lawyer in the jurisdictions involved.
Laws and their enforcement change. Legal content shows when it was last reviewed; check primary sources before relying on any statement, and treat any score as a starting point for discussion rather than a conclusion.
Sanctions and embargoes
The Embargo Impact and Sanction Severity components describe general exposure. GLARS is not a sanctions-screening tool. Check the official lists and guidance of the relevant authorities, such as OFAC, the UK Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation and the EU, before dealing with any person, entity or country.
Privacy
This site has no accounts, forms, analytics or advertising, and sets no cookies.
- Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address, browser details and the pages you request in order to deliver and protect the site.
- Theme setting. If you use the light/dark toggle, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device; clear this site’s data to remove it.
- Calculator. Calculations run entirely in your browser. The scores are written into the page address after the
#, which browsers do not send to the server. They do stay in your browser history and in any link you copy or share.
